Appointment of Members of Property Management Services Authority
Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) announced today (29 November 2019) that Mr WONG Kwok-hing, BBS, MH, Vice-chairperson and Dr Jennifer NG Chui-yiu, JP, Member of the PMSA, will retire since 1 December 2019. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Chief Executive) appoints Mr CHOW Luen-kiu, MH, JP, as a new Member of the PMSA for a three-year term, with effect from 1 December 2019. Other existing members are re-appointed and their term of appointment will expire on 30 November 2022.
Mr Tony TSE, the PMSA Chairperson, said, “On behalf of the PMSA, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr WONG Kwok-hing, Vice-chairperson, and Dr Jennifer NG Chui-yiu, Member of the PMSA. Over the past three years, they contributed to carry out various projects and provided us with invaluable advice. I wish them the very best in their future endeavours.” Chairperson TSE continued, “Also we welcome Mr CHOW Luen-kiu, to join the PMSA as a Member. His participation in community service and experience serving in different organisations could facilitate the PMSA to perform its statutory functions. The Board and I will try our utmost to the implementation of the licensing regime for promoting the professionalism of the property management services.”
Members of the PMSA are appointed by the Chief Executive in accordance with the Property Management Services Ordinance. The new and re-appointed Members are from three categories, namely “Category I Persons”: individuals who are engaged in property management services; “Category II Persons”: individuals, not being Category I persons, who, because of their experience in property management, general administration or consumer affairs, appear to the Chief Executive to have knowledge of property management services; as well as “Category III Persons”: individuals, not being Category I persons or Category II persons, who appear to the Chief Executive to be suitable to be appointed as members of the PMSA.
The PMSA is a statutory body established in accordance with the Property Management Services Ordinance (Cap. 626). Its principal functions are to regulate and control the provision of property management services in Hong Kong by the licensing of property management companies and property management practitioners; to promote the integrity, competence and professionalism of the profession of property management services; as well as to maintain and enhance the status of the profession of property management services.
